“Grandma, I’m not hungry anymore. They’re people too.” Is an edited version of a real conversation.
I didn’t know for a long time the real name of “Brazil nuts”
My grandfather was a mechanic and I didn’t know it was jury rig until I was an adult.
WHAT
I used to work in peoples houses in the US and some of the most casual racism I’ve ever heard was from unassuming sweet old ladies.
Ingredient racism is critical for good food
My grandmother is a alright cook (ma’s better at it, she cooked for her siblings most of childhood) but has been preaching about wanting a post-racial society in a way that kinda seems privileged but well intended way since I can remember.
Like I don’t thinks she’s read hardcore literature or thought much about it, but rather just came to the conclusion “it would be better if I didn’t have to deal with this” in a way that just so happened to make society not have to deal with it.
Like either way not gonna argue lmao.
My grandmother on my mother’s side couldn’t cook worth shit. Didn’t know dad’s mother too long before she passed. Her mother, though, excellent cook. Nice lady.
