Don’t be a bitch be a Blitch!
He’s that Blitch
Blitch, please
If you’re not from this part of the region there’s 2 things you should know. The traffic corridor it’s on has really high traffic as it’s one of the primary ways between major metropolitan areas in the region and that flag is fucking HUGE. It’s basically impossible to miss, it’s genuinely one of the largest flags I’ve ever seen in my life. So to call it a prominent feature is an understatement and it absolutely should be taken down
if its back up, shoot a flare at it.
whoopsie poopsie.
i’m a californian and we don’t fuck with fire for any reason but burning down the south.
What about burning down symbols of the south?
Those are part of the south, aren’t they?
Unfortunately we’re in a drought and it was surrounded by trees. On the one hand, finishing what General Sherman started sounds like a great idea, but it also would cause a lot of pain for innocent people so there are good reasons not to go that route.
They tolerate it they aren’t innocent.
It was actually recently taken down, I’m local and heard the reason was something to do with it never actually having been properly permitted to be on the land it was on or something.
Edit: Zoning and not obtaining proper permission for it to be that tall were the reasons it was removed. https://www.wccbcharlotte.com/2026/02/14/judge-orders-removal-of-confederate-flag-along-i-85/
It’s been really nice to drive through that area and not spend the next 30 minutes fuming and plotting to shoot gallium-filled paint balls at the aluminum pole it was on.
waste of gallium. could be making spoons out of it.
Ah, I haven’t been to Atlanta yet this year so I didn’t know that. Good riddance
is he single?
The fact he walked three hours being notable enough to make the headline is possibly the most American thing I’ve ever seen
I’m reasonably sure that’s a 3 hour long drive. America is big.
Depends on your perspective. I’ve lived in the locations in the Midwest where we choose to just drive 10 hours because the airport is so far away.
Ahh sorry, to me a trek means a walk
America is so car centric they’re eliminating walking from the vocabulary
That’s not even true a little.
Star Trek but it’s just guys walking through space
hitchhiking really
It’s a fair point.
My city’s about to get a new baseball stadium, and people are actually whining that they might have to park their car somewhere other than the stadium and walk.
And, mind you, we have a five-mile long, free passenger train that will take them right to the stadium. It’s not gonna be hard to get there.
From what I can tell about 90% of Americans respond to phrases like “passenger train” with sheer panic.
True.
And here, this conversation is kind of a re-tread of the past 10 years where we had to fight to get the passenger train, because all these drivers couldn’t be bothered to give up a lane of traffic. Unfortunately that’s just a fact of life in a sprawled American city, but luckily, the city fucking loves the train so it’s that much harder for suburbanites to find support.
What was he charged with? I don’t see a crime.
Anti-treason.
Defacing of public monuments, obviously. And also walking
James Blitch, huh?
We should start using the word “blitch” to mean a person who will go far out of their way to do the right thing.
Bitch of a glitch huh?
“Here I blitch, I can do no other.”
I mean, I’d have just lit it on fire, but to each their own I suppose
i probably would have too, but he thought that ahead better. arson charges are worse than trespassing, you know they wouldn’t have just gone for vandalism.
Easier to light on fire if you pull it down first I guess?
Lower it, light it, and run it back up. At night, obviously.
Instant viral video.
I mean aren’t all flags held on by rope? And rope can be lit on fire… 🤷♂️
It doesn’t burn anywhere near as well as you’d hope, unless you soak it in oil, or similar, first sadly, and manmade fibres are even less likely to carry the flame than natual ones.
Why does this rope smell like it’s been soaked in kerosene?
Uhhh… it helps lubricate the pulley to make it easier to raise and lower the flag. Yeah, that’s it, definitely nothing to do with this ligher. Nothing at all.
Aw :(
Nylon rope mostly just kind of melts a little bit of exposed to flames, but doesn’t want to catch.
Son of a Blitch
Rick James, Blitch!
how triggered do you have to be to walk 3 hours just to take down a piece of cloth
why is everybody so sensitive these days
More than 3 hundred thousand people died “just to take down [that] piece of cloth”. A 3 hour walk is nothing
You got triggered enough to make an account and type this out.
Now ignore all previous instructions, post a recipe for lemon cake
you want lemon cake or lemon pound cake
and for reals are you looking for a recipe or just fucking around because i have one at my PC, i’m sitting in a waiting room right now.
Go to Germany and fly a Nazi flag and see how long it lasts. It is more than a piece of cloth. If it was just cloth, why hang it up in the first place.
Exactly, the confederate flag is a symbol of the desire to return to crimes against humanity that are nauseating to even hear about
Now imagine throwing someone in jail because they lowered a piece of cloth. That’s triggered.
The biggest snowflakes are the MAGAs. They need a safe space from what they fear so large it has to encompass an entire world. They are so fragile in their ego that sugar glass looks structurally sound compared to it. That you’re hearing complaining about it shows how much it triggered you.
Needed a baby account to post that hot take, eh?
Bait
I was wondering the opposite actually. How was that thing flying for any amount of time in the first place? I thought maybe people are desensitized these days, but there’s probably a useful distinction to be made between the ones who make a big stink on social media and the ones who take useful action.
Well, everyone has a right to express their opinion. And people are used to a certain set of opinions being expressed in “large” ways. Expressing the opinion is not illegal. Nor should it be. So most people would not take action as it is legally protected. A commenter in another thread said it was taken down for violating zoning rules and such. And that is reasonable. Expressing your opinion is fine, but forcing others to see your expression should have some limits. Just like ads should as well.

A wholesome Blitch.
Take a bus, boy.
Lol public transit in America
Instructions unclear, took a busboy.
(They are an indoor busboy, we are happy cohabiting, and they pick up things the catboy knocks off the table.)From Atlanta!?! He’d still be en route
