I loved the Ken Burns civil war show that aired on PBS when I was a kid. Half my family is from the south and the other half is from Germany. I consume as much history as I can. I am, by turns, both facilitated and appalled by the cyclical nature of human history.
If it comes down to Civil War, the military will be wildly fractured, and regional. Most of your daily danger will come from gangs of local marauders who will fancy themselves as militias. Those people can be handled with a bit of smarts and intelligence.
Remember, MAGA always thinks they will win in one big punch. They never have a plan for the next steps, responses, consequences, etc., they never have a Plan B, and they ALWAYS think their opponent is Stupid, and will never anticipate their grade school playground plan. Use their virtuosic incompetence against them.

An armed populace isn’t about fighting the military in some grand battle. It’s about making every random person a potential threat. When every citizen has a chance of being armed, leaders should lead in a way that doesn’t piss off too many of them.
It’s called insurgency. A good example of what would occur is what happened in Iraq. Iraq is a very high gun ownership rate country and what happened after the 2003 invasion is what would happen in the USA if a civil war happened here. I apologize for using the word ‘happen’ too much lol.

But in the US it isn’t working because Democratic voters disarmed themselves while Republican voters armed themselves to the teeth.
The mass surveillance and tracking that is currently being implemented are to neutralize the threat of an armed populace; it’s to protect the rich ruling class.
They will keep putting them up. They will start to hide them. They will be built into traffic lights and hidden in other things. And they will crack down harder on those that take them down. They will run campaigns that appeal to a sense of safety and label those that oppose terrorists.
And it really doesn’t matter what the voters on both sides of the aisle want, we have a parliament of whores that does the bidding of corporate interest and the ruling class. It’s been that way on both sides of the aisle for a long time. Politicians have no problem deciding against the will of their constituents. It’s not a coincidence that age ID surveillance laws, 3d printing surveillance software, flock style camera surveillance networks are all being implemented right now. And massive AI datacenters to track and flag everything. One CEO gets killed and the next thing you know, systems are put into place to make sure it will never happen again, that there can be no uprising.
Our only hope is to do what they are afraid of before these systems are in place and fully operating. Because once in place, we have little to no hope in correcting.
That’s because they don’t really need to worry about conservatives resisting. They are morons and all too happy to doublethink and believe whatever ridiculous narrative the ruling class feeds them. They are too worried about a brown guy crossing the border and eating their pet or a trans girl using the “incorrect” bathroom to know what’s actually going wrong with this country.
They will run campaigns focusing on crime and safety. They will fear monger and counterfeit crime from people they don’t like, they will label anyone that opposes the safety and security the cameras offer as terrorists. And the dumbass conservatives will fall in line like they always do and support those narratives.
You know I really don’t know what I am. I just want everybody to live the the life they want. I want everybody to have healthcare. I want kids to be educated. I want our infrastructure to be the best in the world. I want national parks to instill the love of nature. I want the natural resources taken from our ground and oceans to be used to enrich the lives of everybody not just the few. I want any public service work to be the highest aspiration of a child be it military, paramedic, social worker, or school teacher. I don’t know what this makes me. I do know that I benefited from things like this when I was growing up and I think they are worthwhile. Like I said I don’t know what that makes me I just know that Project 2025 and the MAGA are evil and if we can not come together and fight it then everything I hoped for in life will be lost. We all will be lost. I don’t want to become that guy standing at a checkpoint asking, " what kind of American are you?"
The difference between liberals and leftists (and other leftists) is in how they see the path to accomplishing those things. Liberals believe in reforming the system, but not fundamentally changing it. Leftists believe that the system (capitalism) will always give too much power to the capitalists, and that reforms are doomed to be either ineffective, or short-lived.
The us army has a wonderful track record with occupation (what you are talking about is going to be even worse for them). They could not beat Iraq or Afghanistan and there they were able to pretend they are not really human, in the states? Ehhhh I would be shocked if the us army could even fight the us people.
