Democrat Amy Acton is projected to flip the Ohio governor’s mansion, according to Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ), after a controversial ad from Republican rival Vivek Ramaswamy roiled the closing days of the race.

That ad not only destroyed his chances at a win, it destroyed ever Republican race in Ohio, and even had an impact on races outside of Ohio.

This was a Sociopathic Oligarch trying to buy a governorship, and he thought the voters were as depraved as he is. Instead, people all over America saw that ad, and it became the face of MAGA as a whole.

I just keep remembering him sitting there like a wanker while Ann Coulter tells him to his face that she would never vote for him because he is “a Indian.”

Smug fucker keeps being hated by his party while rushing to support the same fascism. I hope he keeps losing in life.

To elaborate for anyone else, he had a bunch of sexual predators in his ads, but the one in question was his opponent’s mother who admonished her for everything in life.

Oh, btw, his opponent was sexually assaulted by a parent and the mother in question enabled it. He doubled down over and over that it was just politics and ended up spending millions on that particular campaign, even after the rest of the world was like “wait, rape is bad, right?”.

Sexual assault can be a bit vague of a term. To be clear, she was raped by her stepfather. He went to jail and her mother took his side. And Dr. Acton was eventually removed from her mother’s care for good reason.

He went to jail and her mother took his side.

No, he was facing criminal charges for raping her from the ages of 9 to 12, so her mother actively helped him flee the state and hide from justice until he died 25 years later. The mother chose to stand by her child’s rapist, moving states with him and leaving her children behind, so the state where they were left behind had to take the abandoned children into custody.

Ramaswamy tracked down the mother and said “yeah, let’s get her on camera to call Acton a liar.”

It astounds me what the supposedly decent midwestern people will vote for. If you voted for this ghoul after that fucking ad, you are a piece of shit. He should have been lynched, that was a travesty.

Formative years spent in Kansas. Left when I saw an opportunity. Hope you get out and move to a better place.

That said, Kansas also voted better this time around. Doesn’t mean I wanna go back.

There are much worse places than Ohio, and it’s getting better. The constant hate and concern trolling is just so annoying at this point because it shows people have no idea what it’s actually like here.

Ohio is just like every other state. The cities are blue, the rural areas are red. The main difference is that both the rural and urban areas hold roughly equal political weight. Unfortunately the rural areas have been able to turn out more voters than the cities the past few elections. This one, the cities were able to turn out more. Obviously we hope that continues and things continue to improve here, but the hyperbole of treating Ohio like it’s some war-torn hellhole isn’t helpful.

I don’t think anyone thinks it’s a war-torn hellhole, but it’s a Republican state, very, very red, and has been for at least the past 20 years. Every single day, I still hear people falling all over themselves to kiss Trump’s ass. These people are mentally retarded and they genuinely believe this bullshit.

There are MAGA cult members in every state. And the rural areas are red, just like every other state with rural areas. I don’t think it’s fair to call it a very, very red state for the past 20 years though. Sherrod Brown has been one of our senators for nearly that whole time. We voted to enshrine women’s reproductive rights in our Constitution in that time. We voted to legalize marijuana in that time. If you just look at presidential elections, then yeah I guess you could reach that conclusion, but you’d be ignoring a ton of other really important data points to get there.

It’s also not fair to call it red now. We have a Democrat governor, 5 of the 8 Congress seats this cycle were won by Democrats, and a Republican Senate seat was taken back by a Democrat. At most you could call the state purple, but it’s leaning more blue than red.

Anyways, yeah I was using hyperbole when I said people treat it like a war torn hellhole. To put it more accurately, people treat Ohio like it’s some backwards red state full of rednecks when that truly just is not the case. It’s just like any other state where the rural areas are red and the cities are blue. Telling people “thoughts and prayers, I hope you’re able to escape” is ignorant of reality, and wholly unhelpful.

Everyone always underestimates the effect of disinformation and propaganda on an electorate that doesn’t have the time or energy to do research. They’re too busy being overworked and want to spend the little free time they have doing something they like, not more “work” figuring out politics. That’s why media companies that spoon feed opinions are so effective. People don’t have time to think about root causes.

My mother got a bunch of money in her divorce and doesn’t work. She’s busy caring for her multiple pets, but she has plenty of time. She watches fox and votes maga because she’s a bad person, not because she’s overworked.

Most of these people have the time to memorize 50 different celebrities and their backgrounds yet don’t even know who their senators are. We need to stop making excuses for them. Baseline political knowledge only takes about 2-3 minutes of your time per day, it isn’t that big of an ask.

Also a significant portion of GOP voters are just plain horrible people.

A couple of months ago I was having a conversation with a co-worker who did not know that the Senate has 100 members with every state getting two, or that the House of Representatives was apportioned according to population.

Now what if the GOP had run a straight, white, christian man instead? I imagine a lot of GOP voters stayed home rather than vote for someone who wasn’t white, had a funny name, and is a pagan.
